A half day morning tour to historic Adare, Co Limerick, including sightseeing and shopping.
The tour begins at Foynes and continues along
the Shannon Estuary towards Askeaton and the
handsome 13th century Desmond Castle, before arriving at
picturesque Adare, whose stylish thatched cottages, upmarket
shops and abundance of churches and historic buildings, make it a popular
destination for visitors.
Adare Heritage Centre is an excellent guide to
the village's finest attractions, including the dramatic tower and south wall
of the 13th century Church of The Most Holy Trinity and the
14th century Augustinian Friary.
Morning coffee at the five-star Adare Manor Hotel,
which has 52 chimneys and 365 windows, is followed by an opportunity to browse
the village's excellent antique and haute couture stores.
The coach departs before lunch to return to Foynes, where the
Foynes Aviation Museum where the history and nostalgia of the Flying Boat era
is recreated.
