A full-day tour of County Kerry including the market town
of Tralee, the elegant Muckross House, and the Lakes
of Killarney.
An early morning arrival at Foynes, Co.
Limerick, where the tasty
Irish Coffee was invented, is followed by a trip south to
Listowel, home town of John B Keane, one of Ireland's most
celebrated authors. Irish writers gather here for a lively week of discussion
and debate every May.
In Tralee, the tour travels back in time at the
Geraldine Experience to experience the sights, smells and sounds
of life in the town in the 14th century, before taking a short steam train ride
to Blennerville, to see its18th century windmill and visitor
centre.
Muckross House, Gardens & Traditional Farms,
set in Killarney's 10,236 hectare national park, provides the perfect place for
lunch before a tour of the enchanting lakes, islands and mountains that dot
this historic and scenic area. Among the park's many highlights are Lough Leane
(Lake of Learning), Muckross lake, the Mangerton, Tore and Shehy peaks and the
aptly-named Purple mountains.
Back at Foynes, an Irish coffee reception at the Foynes Aviation
Museum rounds off the day before the tour rejoins the ship.
