A full-day tour from Foynes, including sightseeing and shopping at Ireland's prettiest village Adare and a visit to Limerick City's Viking and Medieval Quarter.

The tour begins at Foynes and continues along the Shannon Estuary towards Askeaton and the handsome 13th century Desmond Castle, before arriving at Adare, whose stylish thatched cottages, exclusive shops and abundant churches and historic buildings make it a popular destination for visitors. Adare Heritage Centre is an excellent guide to the village's finest attractions.

Morning coffee at the five-star 18th century Adare Manor Hotel is followed by an opportunity to browse the village's antique and haute couture stores before departure for Limerick City, which inspired the Pulitzer-prize winning memoirs, Angela's Ashes, by Frank McCourt.

Lunch at Castle Lane part of the King John's Castle complex on the banks of the River Shannon in Limerick is followed by a tour of the city's Viking and Medieval Quarter.  The Hunt Museum contains one of the finest collections of Bronze-Age, Celtic and medieval artifacts in the British Isles and a rich trove of other treasures, such as paintings by Picasso and Renoir. The 11th Century St Mary's Cathedral nearby commands fine views of the River Shannon. At the recently restored 12th century King John's Castle, visitors are taken on a tour of life in Limerick from the Viking period up to the middle-ages.
